These sessions are going to be coordinated by various folks from the Skill Building Team at SMSKN. Each session will be organized with a focus point and participants are encouraged to share their own knowledge and experience with other paddlers so that we all learn from and support each another.
Skill building team member for this session: Catherine Kimball
An update will be provided a week or so before each date in the series with a current weather report and ideas to work on. Topics we are hoping to work on: towing, rescues, rolling, surfing, stroke refinement, bracing, forward stroke to name a few. All sessions will be held at Pine Point. This location has a variety of potential conditions available.
Bring: sea worthy kayak with attachable spray deck, kayak must float when swamped, PFD, helmets preferred (required for surfing), immersion clothing appropriate for water temperatures.
To ensure everyone safely gets the most out of this practice session, attendees should already be proficient in the following skills: Have a solid wet exit, know basic paddling strokes.
Trip level: Beginner (Level 1) and above
Please take the time to print out, sign and bring SMSKN statement of understanding to the event/meetup. The Event organizer will really appreciate your token of proactivity.
