SUMMARY:Skills Practice Series: Self and Assisted Recoveries
DESCRIPTION:This session is part of the weekly skills building series\, and
  will focus on self and assisted recoveries. Whether your a new paddler an
 d want to learn how to get back into your kayak after a capsize\, or you'v
 e been at it a while\, but could use some practice this is for you.\nThese
  sessions are being coordinated by various folks from the Skill Building T
 eam at SMSKN. The focus for this session is self and assisted rescues. Par
 ticipants are encouraged to share their own knowledge and experience with 
 other paddlers so that we all learn from and support each another.\nSkill 
 building team member for this session: Tom Allen and Edwina Ducker.\nBring
 : sea worthy kayak with attachable spray deck\, kayak must float when swam
 ped\, PFD\, paddle\, paddle float and pump\, immersion clothing appropriat
 e for water temperatures. Something warm to change into following the padd
 le\, and a thermos with a warm drink may be helpful since were planning to
  spend some time in the water during this session.\nTo ensure everyone saf
 ely gets the most out of this practice session\, attendees should have a s
 olid wet exit and know basic paddling strokes.\nTrip level: Beginner (Leve
 l 1) and above\nWe'll have a brief meeting on the beach at 3:00pm\, so ple
 ase arrive early enough to be ready to go at that time.
