Post storm circumnavigation of Bailey and Orrs Islands. Meet at Lands End Beach to set up gear at 10:30, launch at 11am. Depending on conditions, will paddle in a figure eight around the islands with stops at the bridge and Weyer Island. The late launch allows us to use the rising tide to help reach the north end of Orrs Is. and then push us back to Lands end.
Please park your car at the upper lot after moving gear to the beach.
Of course a proper sea kayak with gear will be required. Suggest spare paddle, pump, chart, paddle float, and wetsuit or drysuit. I have done this trip many times, but welcome input. Distance is about 12 nm total.
High tide at about 1:20 pm. Winds will be reduced after the storm but high seas will shift the paddle to Lookout Point to circle the more sheltered islands there. Revised plan possible after weekend weather updates. Will be my first Maine paddle this year after summer trips on lakes Michigan and Superior.
