The route (subject to prevailing conditions): From Mere Point, we’ll pass
Upper & Lower Goose, The Goslings and Little Whaleboat on a
circumnavigation of Big Whaleboat. We can stop briefly at the Goslings or
or Little Whaleboat for a bio-break and/or lunch en route, before reversing
our route for the return (depending on the interests of the group, we could
easily add some other local features also).
You: A capable, 15’+ ocean boat with water-tight bulkheads and hatches is
required, as is a pfd and spray skirt. Please wear, carry or bring everything
you need for your safety and comfort in the event of possible immersion.
Currently, the forecast marine conditions are:
Sunny, high of 71F. NNW wind 5 to 10 kt becoming SW in the afternoon.
Seas 1 to 2 ft. High tide is 1:48P.
Fine print: The safety circle and intros are at 9:15; butts in boats by 9:30.
It’s the construction time of year, and the unforeseen is everywhere…Please
plan accordingly.
The goal is a social, conversational-paced, long, slow distance trip of 4-5
hours. There are no plans for extracurriculars (ie: rock play), and there are
shorter distance options as line-of-sight navigation is very simple in this
area (I’ll have a chart and compass anyway). I’ll ask those leaving the group
to do so with a partner.
